2020-10-30:The Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg informs that hybrid lecturing for our type of lectures is prohibited at least until end of November. Thus, the lecture will be virtual at least until end of November.
2020-10-29:This course will take place in hybrid form, that is, part of the students will be admitted to the physical lecture room (subject to Corona hygiene regulations), while the others can attend online via a conferencing system. Additionally, we will record the (anonymized) lectures for offline participation. To be able to establish a procedure for schedling this admittance to the physical room, the lecture will be virtual during the first week of lecture time (on November 3 and November 4), i.e., all participants will connect via a conferencing system during the first week. Please register within Moodle by Tuesday November 3, for handing in exercises, admittance to the physical room etc. The conferencing system will be either Cisco Webex or heiCONF, with a preference for heiCONF.

Modeling of geometry and its animation has a wide range of applications, ranging from scientific representation to computer animation. This course covers the foundations, together with advanced techniques, for the representation of curves and surfaces, the dynamics of their parameters, and animation in general. It covers both phenomenological as well as physically based approaches for animation, and presents their application, including particle systems, deformation, and techniques for character animation.
